Pokémon card centering checker

Photograph the front and back. Preslab measures the borders and shows how high the centering lets the card grade at PSA, TAG, BGS, CGC and ACE.

What it measures

On the front, the printed border around the art: the yellow border on most cards, the silver border on many full-arts. On the back, the blue border around the swirl. Each side is read left against right and top against bottom, and drawn on your photo so you can see where the lines landed.

For BGS, the result is the centering subgrade Beckett's table gives.

Taking the photo

  • Out of the sleeve, flat on a dark, plain, matte surface. A yellow border on a light table has no edge to find.
  • Phone straight above the card. The camera guide has a level, and lights the shutter when the phone is flat.
  • No flash. Daylight, or two lamps from the sides, so the holo doesn't flare.
  • In a toploader? Centering is still read through it. A magnetic case is not supported.

A photo that breaks a rule is turned away with the reason, so you can retake it, rather than being measured badly.

What it doesn't do

It measures centering only. It gives you zoomed crops of the four corners to look at yourself, and it doesn't assess the surface. A result reads "up to": the most the centering allows, never a predicted grade.
